It is authenticated, rate-limited and handed to the right service. Logged, so we can trace it later.
The database answers
An indexed query returns in under 5 ms. Hot data comes from cache, writes are queued safely.
The screen updates
The response comes back before the customer notices they waited. That is the whole job.
